Eagle Mountain Road, Yeager Airport, Charleston, WV
The L.R. Kimball Aviation and Civil Engineering Group completed the design and bidding for the Eagle Mountain Road Extension at the Yeager Airport. The work was completed in less than 2 months to be able to compete for FAA Supplemental Discretionary Funding that was provided by President Trump. In the end, the project was one of only 37 across the US to be funded out of 438 requests. The Airport Authority received funding from the FAA in the amount of $3.708 million for the project, which, when completed, will provide access to the eastern part of the General Aviation Area at the Airport. This will open up 26 acres of land for future development, and the Airport is already in discussions with several entities about building hangars and aprons in that area. Construction is expected to start in November 2018 and should be completed in July 2019. We are also aiding the Authority in the submission of two additional Supplemental Discretionary Funding Requests totaling just under $10 million.
