Foundation Hall, Staten Island, NY
The construction of Wagner College’s new four-story, 73, 125 SF residence hall housing 200 students was Wagner’s first in 40 years, embarking on what the college president called a new era of “construction and enhancement” for the 125-year-old Staten Island college. Built over the existing baseball field, the new building creates a new quadrangle on campus and will be complemented by the addition of the proposed Center for Global Learning. The site underwent extensive landscaping to protect privacy and facilitate noise protection.
The new residence hall helps to address over-crowding for Wagner’s current residents and provides a state of the residence hall that brings modern facilities and amenities to campus life with suite style rooms and apartments that help prepare for post college life. In addition to living spaces, the facility includes the Manzulli Conference Center which is used for student gatherings, campus and outside conferences, and as a Board Room for Trustee meetings, several types of lounge spaces, study spaces, career development facilities and an alumni office to help students network, intern and make connections prior to graduation.
