9th Street Bridge, Pittsburgh, PA
This project involved the rehabilitation of the 995’ self-anchored suspension bridge over the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh. In addition to the Allegheny River Water Trail, this structure also spans the 10th Street Bypass and Three Rivers Heritage Trail.
L.R. Kimball completed the follow-up inspection of 9th Street Bridge, as well as the design and analysis of the complete replacement of the reinforced concrete deck, sidewalks and approach slabs; structural steel repairs to all framing elements, towers and the suspension system; fascia beam replacement; bearing and joint replacement; and new historic lighting. On an associated project, L.R. Kimball performed the in-depth inspection for the similar 7th Street Bridge.
