University Boulevard Feasibility Study
Overview

L.R. Kimball (Kimball) has performed a Feasibility Study at the intersection of Business Route 60 and University Boulevard for the Moon Transportation Authority (MTA).
Goals
The purpose of the University Boulevard Feasibility Study is to investigate alternatives that would reduce congestion on Business Route 60 between the Thorn Run Interchange and Hangar Road Intersection, the last remaining non-limited access section of Business Route 60, while providing adequate access to existing and future development within Moon Township and the existing Pittsburgh International Airport facilities.
Solution
The Feasibility Study includes an overall assessment of the current operations at the existing intersection of Business Route 60 and University Boulevard, as well as various improvement alternatives that would upgrade the facility or provide new facilities to satisfy the project need. The SPUI Alternative (shown below) was one of the studied alternatives and was determined to be the best long-term solution.
