Thorn Run Interchange Improvement Project

The Thorn Run Interchange is located in Moon Township, Allegheny County, PA and provides access from Business Route 60 (SR 3160) to Thorn Run Road Extension. This interchange experiences significant delay, failing levels of service, and has crash rates over the state average.

At the request of the Moon Transportation Authority, L. Robert Kimball (Kimball) and Associates has completed a Purpose and Need Report that summarizes why the project is needed. Kimball has also completed an Alternatives Analysis that analyzed nine different solutions to the problems that affect the interchange. These alternatives were in accordance with PennDOT’s Smart Transportation Initiative.
