The Archdiocese of
Philadelphia, the second largest K-12 provider in PA, has engaged
Kimball to design two new high schools. The first school to be
constructed is located in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery
County. The facility will replace two existing facilities and expand
the opportunities for secondary education with a Catholic
foundation. Completion of the first school, estimated at mid-2010,
will be quickly followed by the construction of the second high
school, in Hilltown Township, on 62 acres in Bucks County.
Each school is two stories in height and has been designed to
accommodate a maximum capacity of 1,600 students. The initial phase
of construction, 210,000 square feet in size serving 1,200 students,
will include all core facilities, specialty spaces and the
development of most of the athletic fields. The second phase, at
27,500 square feet, will add classroom capacity for an additional
400 students and the remaining site amenities will be completed. The
Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County high school (shown)
will be built first. |
