L.R. Kimball has successfully prepared NEPA documents for a wide range of projects, including large new roadway alignments, bridge rehabilitations and replacements, bus terminal projects and cell tower placements.
Expertise In All NEPA Categories
We have established an excellent record of coordinating and preparing documentation for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 for the environmental planning, design, construction and operation of federal facilities and infrastructure projects. Many of these projects have been managed by the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Communications Commission.
Our experience extends across all three NEPA categories:
- Categorical Exclusion Evaluations (CEE): Actions that do not individually or cumulatively have a significant environmental effect.
- Environmental Assessments (EA): Action where significance of impacts is not clearly established.
- Environmental Impact Statements (EIS): Actions that would significantly affect the environment.
Considering Every Issue
Our NEPA experts represent several environmental disciplines, and are well-versed in evaluating and writing each section according to accepted standards. Working together, we combine our expertise to thoughtfully consider the following issues for each NEPA document:
- Alternatives Analysis
- Environmental Inventory
- Impact Analysis
- Identification of Preferred Alternative
- Mitigation Measures
- Needs Analysis
These full-service capabilities translate into efficient, cost-effective document preparation that consistently delivers targeted results.
What projects require NEPA documentation and compliance?
Any project that is on federal land or receives federal funds requires NEPA compliance. According to the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection, the agency carrying out the federal action is responsible for complying with NEPA requirements.
