Watershed development:

a) increases rainfall runoff flows and velocities,

b) contributes to erosion and sedimentation in streams,

c) overtaxes the carrying capacity of streams and storm sewers,

d) increases the cost of public facilities to carry and control stormwater,

e) undermines flood plain management and flood control efforts in downstream communities,

f) reduces groundwater recharge,

g) threatens public health and safety.

Watershed development is occurring, and we need to be aware of how our landscape is changing so we can adjust and grow along with it. The Act 167 Plan’s resulting stormwater management ordinance will address chronic stormwater related problems in critical areas throughout the County, relieving the pressures of ever-growing watershed development in our community.
