This project involved the final
design engineering of a 2-1/2 mile section of the Mon Fayette Expressway,
which is being built in phases in southwestern Pennsylvania. Eventually
the road will connect Interstate 68 in West Virginia with Route
51 just south of Pittsburgh. This segment is a four-lane divided
highway with a full diamond interchange with Coyle Curtain Road
and an overpass structure carrying Walnut Ridge Road over the highway.
Other engineering tasks included: structural design of one overpass
structure and two mainline structures, pavement design, roadway
drainage, stormwater management, roadside development plan, and a
traffic control plan. The project also included the improvement
of Curtain Coyle Road with a 1.2-mile truck-climbing lane.
